Junior School

The school year is now well and truly in full swing. The last fortnight has seen some exciting times descend upon Ringwood Secondary College. Our much beloved lunch time activities are blooming with ‘Just Dance Club’ bringing laughter, joy and a few rocking moves. The zest and creativity have equally been oozing during Art Club organised on Thursday Lunch times by the ever-crafty Art Faculty. There has also been a spring in a few students’ steps on Thursday Lunch times as Skipping Club has jumped into action. If you’d like to share your passion with one of our many lunchtime clubs, be sure to drop by the Microsoft Teams Channel and find out what is running throughout the week.

The last fortnight also brought back a familiar but not too loved setting of Remote Learning. Staff and students returned to the comforts of learning from the warmth of their pyjamas with a few extra minutes sleep in for Victoria’s 5 Day Snap Lockdown. The high level of engagement and flexibility that our students demonstrated was overwhelming as their learning shifted from face to face to remote. Students are reminded that staff will use Compass as their primary level of communication for their classes and teaching and learning, so please ensure to keep checking your lesson plans to find out what exciting things you will be learning.

Students are reminded iPads are a learning tool and are to be safely secured in their lockers during lunch and recess.

Congratulations to all our Year 7 Ambassadors who were recognized during a Year Level Assembly last week. We look forward to seeing their amazing leadership around the College in 2021. We also would like to acknowledge our Year 8 leaders who undertook a leadership training day with the Maroondah City Council last week. This opportunity helped our students enhance their leadership, which will in turn benefit all members of our College Community.

Looking ahead at upcoming key events, staff will soon be submitting their Progress Reports which will be available for parents and students to access on the 24th of March. These reports will give an insight to your students' progress in each of their classes. From these reports, parents are welcome to book an interview time with each individual teacher to further discuss students’ progress and learning behaviours. These interviews will take place on the 31st of March and all key details will be accessible on Compass for parents, especially our new Junior School parents.

Year 7 Art

Our students have been learning how to use the primary colours to make secondary and tertiary colours.

Over the next few weeks they will apply this knowledge to create their own paintings. We look forward to seeing their amazing creations.
