Co-curricular - Senior Sport

Reconciliation Round
This week the College will hold our Summer Reconciliation Round of Sport across all disciplines. For a long time now, we have fostered an emphasis on Reconciliation with our Aboriginal brothers and sisters in many ways at the College and particularly through these rounds of Co-curricular in Winter and Summer.
The 1st V Basketball and 1st XI Cricket teams will wear our College’s Aboriginal strip created in conjunction with our partner school in Alice Springs, St Joseph’s Flexible Learning Centre. All teams across the College will Acknowledge Country prior to the commencement of their fixtures. As we do this, it is important that we work for Reconciliation in our everyday lives beyond just Saturday, addressing racism and affecting change for the greater good of our original custodians where possible.
SPC stands in solidarity with all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and acknowledges the Wangal clan of the Dharug people in the greater Eora nation, as well as the Central Arrente people of Alice Springs.
Conclusion of Summer Season
As we approach the end of the summer season, I encourage all students to continue to train hard and play with gusto. To our Year 12 boys who will find themselves playing their final fixtures of Baseball, Basketball or Cricket for the College in the coming weeks, you should cherish the moment. Please know that your contribution to the Co-curricular program and the wider SPC community is truly appreciated and I trust you will have many fond memories to look back on.
- The final round of ISA Basketball will be played on Saturday 6 March. There are no semi-finals this year. Those teams who finished first or second place on the ladder will go through to contest the Grand Final on Saturday 13 March at Penrith Basketball Stadium.
- 1st and 2nd XI Cricket will play their final round on Saturday 6 March, again with the two top teams on the ladder going through to contest the Grand Final on Saturday 13 March.
- 3rd XI Cricket will play their final round on Saturday 13 March. There will be no final player this year with the premiership being awarded to the team that finishes on top of the ladder.
- Year 7 Crichton Cup Cricket will play their final round on Saturday 13 March.
- NDJCA Cricket teams will play their last round on Saturday 6 March. Semi-Finals will be played on Saturday 13 March and those lucky enough to make the Grand Final will play on Saturday 20 March.
- RHBL Baseball rounds will complete after Saturday 6 March. Competition finals have yet to be determined however, they will not be played any later than Saturday 20 March.
Training will cease once a team is no longer involved in its respective competition.
It is important to note that there is a quick transition from the summer season to the trials of the winter season. Those boys still engaged in NDJCA or RHBL finals are to continue to meet their summer co-curricular commitment as a priority, in the knowledge that their absence at the first winter trial will in no way see them disadvantaged in terms of team selections.
Winter Sport Trials
Winter sport trials for Rugby, Football and Tennis commence on Wednesday 17 March. Please note that a schedule for trials will be released in the coming weeks. It is important that all students who have nominated to participate in a Winter sport make themselves available for the following Saturdays later this term:
- Winter sports internal trials – Saturday 20 March
- Black and Green Shield: Rugby, Football and Tennis trial fixture against Trinity Grammar – Saturday 27 March.
