Attitudes to School Survey

From the 24th May – 11th June, students from Year 4-6 will participate in the Attitudes to School Survey (AtoSS). The AtoSS is an annual survey offered by the Department of Education to assist your child’s school to gain an understanding of students’ perceptions and experience of the school. We value student voice as a means to improving student engagement, wellbeing and quality instruction. This survey assists our school to gain a better understanding of students’ perceptions and experiences at school. Students will be asked about their thoughts and feelings in relation to their school, their learning, peer relationships, bullying and life in general. There are also some questions about student health and wellbeing. Staff use this data to celebrate what is going well at the school and to address ways to further improve our school. Clyde Primary School will be sending home more information via Compass regarding the survey to families with a student in year 4-6. Further details will be provided in this letter.

Australian Early Development Census

Towards the end of term 2 and into term 3, our Foundation staff will participate in the Australian Early Development Census (AEDC). The AEDC is a nationwide census of early childhood development that measures the progress of children as they start their first year of full time school. The information collected helps shape the future and wellbeing of our children by providing evidence to support education. Health, policy and community planning, at the national, state, community and local level. The census involves teachers of children in their first year of full-time schooling completing the Australian version of the Early Development Instrument in a secure online data collection system. Teachers responses about each child are based on observations, children are not present when the teacher completes the AEDC. More information will be provided to our Foundation families via Compass closer to the beginning of the data collection.
