Community Achievement Awards 2021

On Thursday, the 24th of February, the Melton City Council held the annual Community Achievement Awards at Tabcorp at 6 pm.

Present were Kennedy Su'a, School Captain from 2020, and Ornella Niyonzima, current Vice Captain.  Kennedy Su'a received a certificate for his nomination as Young Citizen of the Year.  Ornella received a certificate for her nomination as Young Citizen of the Year and Intercultural Engagement Leader of the Year.  Absent was Danzle Kavana, who was last year's Vice Captain and also a nominee for the Young Citizens Award.

When asked about the evening, Kennedy said, "It was very formal! It was great to hear the contributions of individuals and how they're benefiting the community.  It was also nice to see Staughton College branching out further into the community".

Ornella said, "I enjoyed being in the presence of the councilors and other infulencial people.  It was a great expereince! It was also inspirational to see all the amazing things the citizens of Melton have achieved. I definitelly gained motivation to achieve more things in the future."

As last year's winner, I was also present to support the awarding of 2021's Intercultural Engagement Leader awardee.  It was a splendid evening, and truly inspiring to hear what everyone was doing to contribute to the city.
