Principal's Report

Principal's Message

Positive start to the year

I would like to congratulate our whole Staughton Family on a really positive start to 2021. This has happened because of the way we have all been able to work together. In the first newsletter of the year I talked about looking forward to students using their strengths to thrive inside and outside the classroom. In class I am really pleased with students focus on completing learning interactions and using our school “High Impact Strategies’ for learning in their interactive notebooks. Outside of the classroom it has been terrific to see the talents and interests of our students in events such as ‘S Factor’ last week. The performances were amazing!

Changed Health Advice

As directed by the Victorian Chief Health Officer, from 11.59pm Friday 26 February, face masks are no longer mandatory in all indoor spaces in the broader community. Masks are still required in limited indoor settings, such as public transport, commercial passenger vehicles and large retail settings. At schools, this means that face masks are no longer mandatory in all indoor spaces for school staff and secondary school students aged 12 or older.

  • Face masks are recommended, but not mandatory, for use by staff, students and visitors when physical distancing of 1.5 metres cannot be maintained.
  • People aged 12 years and over must always carry a face mask – unless they have a lawful exemption.
  • People aged 12 years and over must wear a face mask when on public transport, school buses and when in taxis or ride share vehicles – unless they have a lawful exemption.
  • There are a number of lawful excuses for not wearing a face mask, including for staff and students who are unable to wear a face mask due to the nature of their disability. This includes students or staff who have a medical condition, such as a breathing problem, a serious skin condition on the face, or a mental health condition.

School Council

The recent call for nominations has resulted in 2 nominations for 2 positions. I would like to therefore congratulate Rachel Johns and Daryl Partridge on their two year appointments to our School Council.

We, at Staughton College, would like to show our respect and acknowledge the traditional custodians of the land on which our school is situated, of elders past and present. We extend a warm welcome to everyone who visits our school.
