New Staff

 Wellbeing and Youth Worker

My name is Robert Lam.

In 2021 I will be working on both the Secondary and Primary Campuses as a student wellbeing youth worker, identifying and supporting students in social and developmental areas.

In addition, I will be running group therapy/kids group programs where children will be able to learn in a safe environment in small groups.

Some of the things we will work in our groups will include:

  1. Social confidence, group participation and turn-taking
  2. Using the right language, body language and gestures
  3. Making and keeping friends
  4. Awareness of others and building strategies around resilience
  5. expressing feelings appropriately and resilience

Children will be selected to match their age, goals, needs, and particular areas of challenge.

I enjoy playing video games, basketball, running, listening to hip hop music, and watching the latest tv shows and memes.

I am really looking forward to meeting everyone here at The Lakes and to start working with the students.

Harmony Day

Medication use at school

If your child requires medication, prescribed or over the counter (including paracetamol) whilst at school, there is some important steps you need to take.

  1. Contact the office and speak to the First Aid Officer at your campus to obtain a Medication Authority Form Amanda C at the secondary campus and Karen T at the primary campus. Fill in and return the form to the school office.
  2. Medication brought in by a student needs to be in original packaging and clearly labelled with the:
  • Students name
  • The dosage required
  • The time the medication needs to be administered.
  • Be in date for use

Some things to be aware of: -

Medication such as paracetamol and other analgesics are NOT kept in the First Aid Kit as can mask signs and symptoms of serious illness.

Medications should not be with students unless needed for emergency access. Ie. Ventolin inhaler or epi-pen.

Medication used to treat Asthma or Anaphylaxis do not need to be accompanied by the medication authority form as it is covered in a student’s health plan.

Medication is not to be given to other student unless it’s a medical emergency: for instance a student who is having an asthma attack and requires Ventolin but has not got an inhaler at school.

For further information please contact your campus First Aid Officer.
