IN THE GARDEN

This week we have been busy planting and harvesting.  Thank you to families for the generous donation of garden items and Woolworths Discovery Garden pots.  We have been busy planting pansies, parsley, perpetual spinach and more.  This week we also harvested seeds from carrots and beetroot that had run to seed in our vegetable garden over the last twelve months.  We look forward to planting these in our garden very soon.

IN THE KITCHEN

With everyone contributing and working safely, as a team, we created delicious Carrot and Zucchini Croquettes with Vilma’s Tomato Chutney.  Check out the recipes we used this week:

Some learning along the way. To measure 30grams of butter, scales are more effective than a tape measure!

Getting messy hands is just some of the fun we had in the Kitchen this week. Forming the croquettes, rolling them in flour, then egg and finally breadcrumbs was challenging.

To make the chutney, chop the onion, coriander and chilli, then add it to the tomato quarters. Next, use your hands to mush it together. Super fun.

WANTED: Woolworths Discovery Garden Pots

We are collecting any unwanted Discovery Garden pots that Woolworths are currently giving away with a $30 purchase.  These plants will be potted and planted in our Kitchen Garden.  If you, or any member of your family, have these pots (and do not want to use them in their own garden), please send them along with your child to school.

We are also keen for other donations for the garden.  If you have any items to donate to the school please send them along with your child or drop them in at the office off Panfield Ave.  Items may include (but are not limited to):

  • Old packets of seeds
  • Half empty bags of potting mix, no longer needed
  • Empty seedling trays that we can use to plant in
  • Empty plant pots (small to medium)
  • Old terracotta pots that are not longer needed at home
  • Odd seedlings or potted plants, that you do not want
  • Stakes, climbing frames
  • Egg cartons
  • Unwanted small hand tools.

Happy Gardening!
