Something new
On Tuesday the astroturf was laid and very quickly enjoyed by everyone. So comfy!
Building works nearly finished
After nearly 10 months of disruptions our building works are nearly finished. Here are a few photos of the work that has been completed this last week:
Annual General Meeting & New School Council
On Monday 22 March, at 7:00PM, we will be holding our Annual General Meeting for the school community. At this meeting I will provide an overview of the 2020 school year to the school community. A link to the meeting will be sent home via Compass Newsfeed, we hope you can join us.
School Camp
Next week our Grade 5/6 students head off to The Ranch at Cape Schanck on the Mornington Peninsula. As a child, school camps were one of my most favourite activities, and I look forward to visiting the campers at The Ranch next week. The dedication and commitment of the teaching staff to ensure the camp experience is enjoyed by all, is extraordinary. There is a general misconception that teachers are paid overtime for this work, all of our teachers volunteer their time to take the children away and provide them with this valuable experience. I would like to thank all of the staff and parents who have volunteered their time, away from their own families, to join us on this camp.
Changes to parking on Panfield Ave on Tuesday
On Tuesday morning, and again on Friday afternoon, there will be two bus spaces marked out for the camp buses to park on Panfield Ave. This will create additional parking difficulties and I suggest families revert back to using Mullum Mullum Road entry on these days.
Foundation and Grade 6 Buddies
Our Foundation students love spending time with their Grade 6 buddies! This week they enjoyed the fine weather and headed outside to do some chalk drawings. The children chatted and worked together to create some very colourful masterpieces.
Student-led Walkthrough
Invitations have been sent out to families to join us in the last week of term, Tuesday 30 March, in our classrooms. Families are asked to book a half hour visit per child. During your visit you will be led on a walk through the classroom by your child, listening as they showcase the learning they have been doing during this term. Your child will share with you the URStrong strategies they have been working on. There is then an opportunity for your child to take you on tour of the new school facilities and share with you the other learning spaces. We ask that anyone attending over the age of 12 to carry a facemask and wear it if a physical distance of 1.5m cannot be achieved. We look forward to catching up with you all in the last week of term.
NAPLAN - Grade 3 & 5
Our Grade 3 and 5 students will be undertaking a series of literacy and numeracy assessments in May, commonly known as NAPLAN. Dates for the tests are listed in the "Dates for your Diary" section of this newsletter.
