Koorie Youth

 Summit

On Friday 31st of March 11 McClelland students attended the Koorie Youth Summit, along with Indigenous students from numerous other South East Melbourne schools. The Koorie Youth Summit is an annual celebration held at Willum Warrain and this year it was bigger than ever! The day began with a smoking ceremony and Welcome to Country from the Bunurong Land Council, a dance performance from the Small Ant Brothers and a set from Indigenous musician Alice Skye and band. After a delicious lunch students were able to take part in bracelet-making, pet/hold animals from 'Funky Farm', and got some deadly bucket hats from Headspace. Lastly, the students did an amazing ground painting representing the young mob and their connections. Thanks to everyone at Willum Warrain for organising such a great day!
