From the Principal

We would like to acknowledge the original custodians of this land and waterways

and pay our respects to the Elders past and present and emerging,

for they hold the memories, the traditions, the culture and hopes of Indigenous Australia.

Dear families

Welcome back to Term Two which has taken off in great heed.  It seemed as if the students had been away for such a long time with the added Public Holidays.  Their smiling faces as they came through the gates on Wednesday was beautiful to see.

This term will once again be filled with many events and the programs will take priority to deliver the curriculum in the best possible meaningful way.

ANZAC Day Commemoration Service

Last Sunday, 23 April, I had the privilege  to be part of the  Glen Eira Anzac Day Service at the Caulfield Park Cenotaph. Fiona and Aiden, two of our Year 6 leaders, represented our school and proudly placed a wreath at the Cenotaph on our behalf.

The opportunity to be part of this ceremony was a reminder of how fortunate we are to live in a country where we can openly give thanks to those who fought to protect their people.  Their sacrifice is our inheritance.        Lest We Forget!

Jump Rope for Heart

Jump Rope for Heart is the Heart Foundation’s primary school skipping challenge that helps kids move more, have fun and raise funds for lifesaving research and programs.

This year we’ve got an audacious goal to see our student Heart Heroes at St Anthony's School to log 40 hours of skipping throughout the program!

Register your child online, so they can receive the full benefits of the program and participate in online fundraising, simply follow the link below to get started. www.jumprope.org.au/parents

Students will begin skipping with their class throughout the term on Wednesday 3 May 2023, and during lunch break, during this time you can share their online fundraising page with family and friends to help raise money for this great cause.  We will hold our school Jump Off Day on Wednesday 31 May 2023, this will mark the end of the program and is a chance for everyone to come together to skip and show off their newly learned skills.

A representative from the organisation will be at school next Wednesday for a demonstration of skills that can be learnt and start off the program. Each student will receive  Jump Rope for Heart  key ring and sticker and the school will receive new skipping ropes for the program.  Students can also win prizes as per the funds they have raised.

Thank you for supporting the Jump Rope for Heart program!

Glen Huntly Level Crossing Removal Project

The school has been informed that the work along Grange Road will continue into next week. It is hoped that by working day and night the work will be completed by the end of the week.  Please be vigilant with traveling along our two main roads and the parking restrictions.  The Community Relations Team are ensuring that there is minimal disruption to the school especially at drop-off and pick up times.

Curriculum Day 15 May 2023

Monday 15 May will be our second Curriculum Day for the year.  Students do not need to attend school. OSHC is available for the families that require it.

Playgroup

On Wednesday we had our first playgroup session which was attended by 4 families and 6 children.  We are off to a great start!
