Check-In Assessments

S. Cummings - Stage 3 Assistant Principal

During the 2023 school year, primary students Year 3 - 6 will complete Check-In assessments. The timetable is as follows:

Term 2 (Weeks 4 to 7) Years 4 and 6 complete Reading and Numeracy assessments

Term 3 (Weeks 8 to 10) Year 6 complete Reading, Numeracy and Writing assessments

Term 4 (Week 1 to 4) Years 3, 4 and 5 complete Reading and Numeracy assessments

At St Johns Park Public School, students in Years 4 and 6 will be completing Check-In assessments in the next few weeks at school. These are an online assessment.

The two assessments are:

  • Reading
  • Numeracy

Students complete each assessment on a school device in their classroom with their teacher. If your child is absent and misses an assessment, it can be taken at a later date.

Each assessment consists of 40 to 50 multiple choice questions and they have 40 - 50 minutes to complete each assessment. Our Check-In timetable requires students to complete only one assessment per week.

When each assessment is completed, the results are immediately available to class teachers and assist with future planning for individual students and grades. Families do not receive a printed copy of the results. Class teachers will confidentially discuss results with each student.

If you would like to discuss your child's Check-In results with the class teacher, you are welcome to make an appointment when both assessments have been completed.

If you have any questions regarding the Check-In assessments, you are welcome to contact the school and speak to Mrs Cummings.
