Sydney Writer's Festival Excursion

S. Cummings, H. Lee, E. Beard and T. Do - School Book Club teachers

Students in Years 5 and 6 who are members of the School Book Club, have the opportunity to attend the Sydney Writers’ Festival at the Sydney Town Hall on Wednesday, 24th May, 2023. This is the first time our school has attended this festival.

The Sydney Writers’ Festival brings renowned children’s authors and illustrators to primary students for a fun, interactive and educational day that deepens their love of reading and writing. There is an exceptional line-up featuring Cristy Burne, Jordan Gould, Maryam Master, Richard Pritchard and A.F. Steadman in what promises to be a thrilling celebration of the power of stories hosted by Adrian Beck. These are all authors that the Book Club are reading this year.

The cost of the excursion is $29.00 per student. This needs to be paid to the office by this Friday, 19th May, 2023. Travel to and from the festival is by train. Each student needs their own Opal Card with at least $10.00 credit on it.

Book Club students will meet Mrs Cummings and Miss Lee at Fairfield Station at 7:00am. They will travel with the students and supervise them throughout the day. The Book Club will return to Fairfield Station at approximately 3:30pm.

Students need to be in full school uniform, including black shoes and a school hat. They are to bring Crunch N Sip, lunch, a drink and the novel they are studying this term. We are hoping to meet the authors and have them sign our books.

Please return the permission note given to you by your Book Club teachers to Mrs Cummings by Monday, 15th May, 2023.

If you have any questions, please contact the school office and speak to your child's Book Club teacher.
