Assistant Principal Selen Atilla welcomes our Pre-service Teachers
I just wanted to begin this newsletter by thanking Tim Cottrell for organising Thursday’s Curriculum Day and a series of workshops he has implemented this year with a focus on continuing to improve student engagement with ‘Unconditional Positive Regard’. The staff are grateful to be provided the opportunity to further develop their skills in ‘High Impact Engagement Strategies’. Thanks Tim, and thank you to our presenters Brendan Murray and Andrew Sturgess.
The college also welcomes Chris Danher to the role of ‘Acting Director of Engagement’ in Senior School, and Deniz Tuncer to the role of ‘Acting School Engagement Leader’ in Junior School. Congratulations Chris and Deniz in your new positions at our college.
We are very excited to work in partnership with La Trobe University to support their Education program by providing placements for 7 pre-service teachers this term. We supported 2 placements in term 1 and will have a few more in Term 3. What a great place to develop and refine teaching skills! Thank you to our volunteer mentors; Ms Lemire, Mr E Tuncer, Mr D Tuncer, Ms Scopel, Ms Lucas, Mr Fonstin, Mr Sivakumaran, Ms Smith and Mr Tucker. I’m excited to share a photo of our pre-service teachers with you taken on Curriculum Day.
A friendly reminder that Breakfast Club continues to run on a daily basis for all students, and the Library is open to provide a quiet and supportive learning hub for students. Thank you, Mr Tucker and Ms Flaskas for making this possible.
Thank you to Shahana and Jacob who organised Flourish Girl, Man Cave, and the Wellbeing fair.
We warmly welcome our college Doctor Leila and Nurse Alison to LNSC. They are available for consultation every Thursday and will work from our college clinic. We feel very fortunate to provide a clinic on site for LNSC students. See Shahana in Wellbeing for an appointment.
You may have heard that the college developed a new program called ‘Work Futures’. Three positions were advertised earlier this term:
