Year 9 City Challenge

During the last week of Term 1, students in Year 9 participated in the City Challenge program. Throughout the week, students completed a range of activities and bespoke inquiry sessions to investigate Melbourne’s commitment to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals. Students demonstrated their appetite for life-long learning and became engaged and active citizens. They developed a number of essential soft skills including teamwork, communication, critical thinking, and problem solving.

The Year 9 City Challenge was an amazing experience that allowed you to experience Melbourne city. I had a wonderful time spending time with my friends and exploring the city. It taught me a lot of things, Australia's history, life skills and independence. My favourite part of the challenge was going to the Eureka Skydeck. We went to the top floor and the view was breathtaking. Famous landmarks in Melbourne were visible from there. We also did the VR experience which was super realistic and cool. The Year 9 City Challenge was very enjoyable, and I had fun every day of it -ERMO H

The most enjoyable part about Year 9 City Challenge for me was the Eureka Sky Deck experience. It was amazing to see the beautiful views from one of the highest points in Melbourne. We also got the chance to go into the glass cube which moved outwards from the building and left us looking down onto the pedestrians and roads below.  Another fun part of the City Challenge was looking around Queen Victoria Market where we were able to experience a multicultural lunch. The different shops were intriguing and finding things that you don’t normally see was especially interesting. Overall, the week was full of amazing experiences and fun interactions - LUCY M
