Mr Chad Harris

Harmony Day

The ongoing theme of Harmony Day is ‘Everyone Belongs’ and is a time of cultural respect for all. By participating in Harmony Day activities, we can learn and understand how all Australians equally belong to this nation and enrich it. Students were invited to wear traditional cultural dress or orange clothing. Orange is the colour chosen to represent Harmony Week. Traditionally, orange signifies social communication and meaningful conversations. It also relates to the freedom of ideas and encouragement of mutual respect. It was a fantastic celebration of culture.

Third Party Software use in schools

The school uses third-party software providers offering web-based online educational resources and cloud-based storage to support our administrative functions and enhance student learning outcomes.

In most instances, students are required to register before accessing the software. Registration involves either a staff member or student entering identifying information such as name, school year, and the student’s school email address into the software.

At the beginning of next term, the school will be sending home a consent form seeking your approval to register your child to use certain software. If you require further clarification, please contact the school. Please return completed forms as soon as possible.

NAPLAN

NAPLAN assessments have been completed between 15th March and 22nd March.

NAPLAN is a national literacy and numeracy assessment that students in Years 3, 5, 7 and 9 sit each year. It is the only national assessment all Australian students have the opportunity to undertake.

As students progress through their school years, it’s important to check how well they are learning the essential skills of reading, writing and numeracy.

NAPLAN assesses the literacy and numeracy skills that students are learning through the school curriculum and allows parents/carers to see how their child is progressing against national standards and over time.

NAPLAN is just one aspect of a school’s assessment and reporting process. It doesn’t replace ongoing assessments made by teachers about student performance, but it can provide teachers with additional information about students’ educational progress.

Easter Hat Parade

Students K-6 (and staff) participated in the Easter hat parade on the last day of term.  It was a wonderful event which was well supported by our local community.  Our apology for the change of venue due to the weather.  I hope you had as much fun as our students.

Holidays

I would like to take this opportunity to thank you for your ongoing support this term.  We continue to battle through some difficult times in our society, but I am proud to work in a community where adversity helps us to strengthen our bond.  Please enjoy this time with your families.  Teachers will return on Monday 24 April with students returning on Wednesday 26 April.  Please take care.
