Chess Tournament

Chess

Keilor Downs College hosted our first ever Chess Inter-school Tournament on Wednesday 27th March.

We are keen to contribute to the inter-school chess community, and to promote chess in our school, as hosting enables more students to attend.

Schools that participated in the tournament were Suzanne Cory, Braybrook, St Albans Secondary and Copperfield College. We also had a boy attend from Keilor Views Primary who came fifth in the Middle Years Division.

Keilor Downs College had individual success with Zakary Severn (12Y3) winning and Adrian Kong (11R1) coming second in the Open Secondary division (Years 10 to 12).  In the Middle Years, Ebel Korah of 9R1 won that Division.

In the Team events, KDC came second in Middle Years, but won the Open Secondary, qualifying for the State Finals in September for the third year running.

Students who are interested in playing Chess are welcome to daily lunchtime practice in the FLC. Beginners coaching takes place on Tuesday and Friday lunchtimes.

We also have immediate competition vacancies for girls wanting to play.

Well done KDC.
