Principal's Message

Linda Maxwell

As Term 1 ends, we can look back on a very positive start to 2019. I would like to talk about a couple of issues. Firstly, a big thank you to the representatives that have just retired from our School Council and acknowledge their very positive and active participation. Three of our excellent parent representatives have retired – Paula Moore-Ward, Maria Longo and Rima Allouche. Peter Havard has also retired as a staff representative and Michelle Bui as a student representative. This, of course, has opened up opportunities for some new members of Council so I would like to welcome Anne Ingram, Jeeti Kaur, Helena McAloon, Daniel Di Lisio and Joelene Lam.

One of the new activities we have introduced this year, is a school musical. We are doing the junior version of High School Musical and our music and singing staff have already been blown away by the talent and commitment of the dozens of students who have auditioned. I look forward to this whole processing unfolding and can’t wait to see the final production.

Finally, I am on leave for the first six weeks of Term 2. Daniel McFerran will be Acting Principal for the first three weeks and Dale Ritchie will be Acting Principal for the next three weeks. Lena Hudson will be Acting Assistant Principal for the six weeks and will be looking after the portfolios of Curriculum and Blue House. I wish them well and know that I leave KDC in good hands.
