School Council
Dear Parents,
After our recent call for nominations to school council, I am pleased to welcome Shane Evans to school council for the next two years and welcome back Prasana Krovidi. I am sure Shane will make a valuable contribution to council as we continue our improvement agenda, and as we undertake our school review this year and Prasna's insights are always welcomed as it her sharp mind.
Whilst we welcome Shane to council and Prasana back, it was disappointing not to have filled the remaining two parent positions. With a school population of 350 students, I am sure there are more parents with the desire, passion and commitment to join council and contribute to making our school as good as it can be. It's not too late, so please, if you are able to contribute to the fabric of school council please contact the school office.
As mentioned in the last newsletter, over the school holidays the fence surrounding the school will be replaced providing additional security and improved street appeal. In addition, over the holiday period the school oval, which is currently configured as a soccer pitch for Under 17s, (see below) will be reconfigured to suit primary aged students.
This will see two Futsal soccer pitches installed to suit the age of the students here, as well as the installation of two softball diamonds. This will provide Mrs Wishart and our students first rate grounds for inter-school sport, as well as options for when she, and classroom teachers, run sport education. During break times, this should also provide greater, and age appropriate, options for our students.
A big thank you to the Buildings and Grounds sub-committee for organising another improvement to make the learning and enjoyment of the students here even better!
Regards,
Gurpreet Thiara
School Council President
