Junior School

Prep

Every Friday the Prep students are involved in a developmental play session. A variety of resources are available for the students to choose from to play with, either by themselves or with their peers. Learning through play is vital in the Early Years classroom as that is how young children learn best.

Through play, children learn to make sense of their world. Developmental play provides opportunities for active learning, it is fun and creates a wonderful platform for building social skills, language and communication skills and important concepts such as turn taking, risk taking, sharing and negotiating.

Developmental Play sessions provide a change in routine from more structured learning and can help reinforce concepts and tasks being taught.

Resources are chosen carefully to support the development of fine motor skills, problem solving, imagination, creativity, numeracy and literacy.
