Acknowledgement of Country

Last year our Reconciliation working party of staff and parents were successful in creating and submitting our first-ever SKiPPS Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP). 

 

A RAP helps schools and early learning services foster a high level of knowledge and pride in Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander histories, cultures and contributions.

 

To start the year off, our staff took part in Education Department Community Understanding and Safety Training (CUST) led by members of the Koorie education division.

 

Our classes each spent time during our start of year CAPSE (Creating a Positive School Environment) program, learning about the traditional custodians of the land, the Bunurong people and collaboratively wrote an acknowledgement of country each. These were then decorated and take pride of place in each learning space.
