HARMONY WEEK

This week was Harmony Week and students and staff have helped create a display of where our families are from.  Family was given the widest possible definition including found family and many generations.  It has been interesting to see how many different countries our students and staff have links to.

INTERNATIONAL WOMEN'S DAY

For International Women's Day students and staff were asked to write on a card acknowledging a woman who inspires them and stating why.  It was lovely to see a few of our teachers nominated by our students, and a few mothers and grandmothers also got special mentions as well as famous women as diverse as pop-culture icons, musicians, Politicians and Queen Elizabeth II.

RESEARCH CLASSES

Over the past two weeks Loretta has been running Research classes with the Year 8 students, teaching them some internet searching tips and how to evaluate websites. Students have been reminded that our library is open until 4.30pm Monday to Thursday and 4pm on Fridays and our qualified staff are able to provide one on one assistance to students with any research related questions.

CLICKVIEW

Did you know that your students have free access to ClickView at home and can watch age-appropriate films, television shows ad-free on their devices? There is a huge variety of videos students can log into with their school email address. These resources have been carefully curated and available in a wide range of topics and interest areas.

LIBRARY FACEBOOK PAGE

Don’t forget the Library has its own Facebook page.  This is a great way to keep up with all the activities of the Library including clubs, competitions and events and new resources in our library.  On the page you will also see photos of our different displays including International Women’s Day and Harmony Week.

CLUB NEWS

From a suggestion of two our students, we’ve begun running a Crafting Club on Tuesdays. Run by Ms Benson and Jac, this clubs offers students an opportunity to learn to knit or crochet. It is also a great chance for students to meet new friends and develop a new skill. Everyone is welcome, and for the experienced Crafters we encourage them to bring along their projects. Many thanks go to Matilda McMurray from Year 10 who has been teaching our students to crochet.

The Adventurer’s Club has proved successful. With the new Year 7 recruits successfully having created their characters with the help of Mr Marr, they are now off on their own adventures. We would like to thank our Dungeon Masters Em (Emily) Wright, Soren Johnson-Shortis, Danika Waugh and Georgia Wilson, who turn up weekly with adventures planned and ready to go.
