STEP Debating and Public Speaking

Without communication skills, the ability to progress in the working world and in life would be nearly impossible. That is why Kingswood High School is now offering Debating and Public Speaking to students who show a passion for oratory wish to extend their speaking skills while engaging in challenging and meaningful discussions with peers. 

Through our fortnightly STEP lessons, our students have been perfecting their logical thinking and ability to be persuasive. They engage in structured, passionate debates across a range of topics and are given on-the-spot feedback to help them improve their language and presentation skills. 

In Term 2, our debating teams will take part in the Premier's Debating Challenge against schools across Greater Western Sydney. We will also be holding an inter-school competition to find four students to take part in the Legacy Junior Public Speaking Competition and Plain English Award which will both take place in Term 2.

We have had success when taking part in these competitions in the past, with students progressing to compete at regional and state level, and hope to replicate that success in 2021.

STEP Netball

The STEP netball program runs Monday week B periods 5 and 6. Students selected in the program will participate in fitness, drills, and technical training to continue to develop their skills. Students will become familiar with their teammates at fortnightly training to prepare for future gala days and knockout games. This year there was such a big number of students interested in trailing for netball we held 2 phases.
