Student Attitude to School Survey (AtoSS)

WE WANT OUR STUDENTS TO TELL US WHAT THEY THINK!

We value student voice as a means to improving student engagement, wellbeing, and quality instruction, and are conducting a survey to find out what your child thinks of our school.

The AtoSS is an annual student survey offered by the Department of Education and Training to assist our school to gain an understanding of students' perceptions and experience of school. Students will be asked about their thoughts and feelings in relation to their school, their learning, peer relationships, bullying and life in general.

Students from Year 7 to 12 will participate in the survey. Your child will complete the survey online during school hours using a purpose built secure online survey tool.  It is important to note that we are not in any way “testing” your child. Your child has the right to refuse or withdraw from the survey at any time.

Your child will be provided with a unique login to complete the survey. The student login is an assigned identifier that may be used to link data for statistical and research purposes only. All responses to the survey are kept anonymous in the response file. Personal identification data will not be recorded in the survey response file. This ensures that the confidentiality of your child’s responses is protected at all times.

This year the Attitudes to School survey will be conducted at our school over the period Monday 31 April to Friday 11 June. The survey takes around 20-45 minutes to complete and occurs during your child's class time.

The survey results will be reported back to the school in an aggregate form throughout the survey period. All survey data that is made available in reports are for groups of students only so that no individual student can be identified. Data suppression rules are used for schools with low student numbers per year level.

Survey results will be communicated to parents through the College's Annual Report. If you would like more information, please speak to your child’s teacher or visit:

Safe Around Schools program - changes to parking

Following the Safe Around Schools program, which was run by the City of Casey in conjunction with the Cranbourne East Primary School, it is proposed to make some changes to the school Drop-off and Pick-up zones on Stately Drive (between the Secondary School and Primary School entrances).

The changes are:

• Starting the afternoon pick-up time 15 minutes earlier at 2:45 pm so that the zone is in operation from before the high school finish time.

• Adding a supplementary sign saying DROP OFF & PICK UP

• Line marking the parking bays to ensure that each vehicle has enough space to enter and exit the zone.

There will be greater parking enforcement within the pick-up zones in the future. The parking rules that apply are:

• Vehicles can stop while picking up or dropping off students.

• Drivers must remain within three metres of their vehicles.

• Vehicles must not stop for more than two minutes. If the students are not ready, the driver will need to exit the zone and return later.

• Drivers will be booked for double parking if they let there children enter or leave their vehicles when stopped in the traffic lane beside vehicles stopped in the pick-up zone.

To optimise performance of the pick-up zone:

1. drivers should keep moving towards the front of the zones.

2. passing vehicles should make space to allow drivers to exit the zone.

3. parents should not arrive before their children will be ready.

4. parents wanting to arrive earlier should find parking elsewhere.
