From the Principal

Term 2 has been a busy and comprehensive Term. Parent-Teacher-Student Interviews were held online at the beginning of the term and proved to be a successful method for meeting. We appreciate the feedback provided by both staff and the community, following this new process.

For ANZAC Day this year we were unable to attend an official dawn service, however the school commemorated this significant day with a whole school tribute and the School Captains placed a wreath at the Cenotaph in Cranbourne on Anzac Day.

Our students have been working hard to meet the outcomes for their subjects, including our VCAL students who continue to refine their coffee making skills using our recent purchase of the coffee van/horse float. I was also very proud to attend the VCAL 2020 Awards ceremony here at CESC, to present students with their certificates for completion of 2020 outcomes. It was exciting to see the progress the VET – Kitchen students have made, preparing and presenting their baked goods for staff, students and visitors at the ceremony.

I am sure that many of you are now aware that we have been in the devastating position of saying goodbye to one of our students who passed away last week. We are extremely saddened by the news of Joshua Weeks’ passing and are thinking of his family and friends at this time.

In Week 6, we have welcomed back Penni Roe, Year 9/10 Assistant Principal, who has been on extended leave. Tim Bray has been acting in this position since the beginning of the year and will remain with us at CESC in an altered Assistant Principal role until the end of Term 2.

This term we officially farewelled Mandee Strickland, College Principal, who has been appointed to an Executive Principal role with the Regional office. It was the end of an era for the College after an extremely successful tenure for Mandee. The new principal selection process is underway and we will update you as soon as possible with any further announcements, once advised by the Regional office to do so.

I hope you are all staying safe and well and I look forward to seeing our students continue to flourish throughout Term 2.
