The Green Team

Looking after the MEC environment

The Green Team is our newly created student led environmental group at Mount Erin. Working together to improve our College environment. Over the past few weeks we have planted many Woolworths Discovery Garden pots to start our garden growing.

Thank you to Mrs Townsend, Bianca, Annabel, Caro and Dexter for all your support. Special thanks to Caro for taking the amazing pictures and for the work you are doing with Bunnings to apply for funding and support for our Green Team – a huge help!

Everyone is welcome to come along to our meetings which will be announced on COMPASS. If families have any donations for our garden (pots/tools/seeds/mulch etc) they will be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

Bread Bags - New Recycling Program

PLEASE START saving all BREAD BAGS and TAGS

Wonder Recycling Rewards is a fun and easy program created to collect and recycle bread bags (and wraps) and bread tags at school.

A collection is at the front office for all types of bread bags and a separate container will be available for bread tags. Please ensure the bags are free from breadcrumbs - there is no requirement to wash them. (https://www.wonder.com.au/)

Once collected, Wonder is going to turn the plastic into wonderful things like school sports equipment! This program only runs for the rest of this term so please get collecting! After this, of course they can still be recycled using the REDCycling program at Coles/Woolworths (https://www.redcycle.net.au/)

Our combined effort will earn us rewards points to redeem new sports equipment from RHSports.

REMEMBER: we are already collecting washed milk, OJ and soft drink bottle tops (plastic #2 and #4). These can be continued to be dropped off in the Food Technology room.

Any questions, please ask Janice Townsend.

Thanks so much for your support.
