Foundation News

Welcome back

It has been wonderful to welcome all of our Foundation students back into the second term of their school life! We trust that everyone had a wonderful break and the batteries have been recharged ready for a busy term two!

Life Education

Already this term we have attended our life education sessions. In this session we met Harold the giraffe. Along with the educator, Harold taught us all about the qualities of a good friend, our feelings and emotions, some early warning signs to look for when we are feeling upset, and safe and unsafe situations. You can find some parent resources here https://www.lifeeducation.org.au/parents/harolds-friend-ship

ANZAC Day Service

Last week on Friday we attended our school's ANZAC service. We learnt about ANZAC day throughout the week by reading some of the books below. We also made poppies that we wore very proudly to the ANZAC service. The children showed great respect during the service which we were all very proud of.

Show and Tell

Our show and tell program has commenced for this term. The students are very excited and enthusiastic about this. Show and tell for all Foundation students will be on Wednesdays this term. To support your child to be successful when sharing their show and tell, we ask that your child practices with you at home, with a focus on what good speakers do (speaking clearly, eye contact, standing still). Any questions about show and tell please contact us.

Upcoming Events

  • Gymnastics Program - Beginning Wednesday 12th May (for 6 weeks)
  • Teddy Bears Picnic - Thursday 13th May (celebrating 50 days at school!)

Reading Eggs

To support your child in our Literacy workshops, we would appreciate if you could practice logging in, logging out and navigating the reading eggs application. This will support your child to become more independent and give them the tools they need to spend more time on reading eggs learning rather than spending their valuable learning time logging into reading eggs during this literacy rotation. You can find your child's log in details in their yellow reader diary.

Have a fabulous week!
