Class Rep & Teacher Morning Tea

Recently, the P&F Class Representatives attended a morning tea with OPS Teachers.

It was lovely to finally catch up and enjoy a coffee/tea and a Portuguese egg tart after Covid restricting us for so long.

We are very grateful to work together and promote well being for the school community.

Thank you all class reps that made it that day, to the teachers, to Heather Hosken (P&F Convenor), Sara Nyborg (P&F Class Rep Coordinator), Mrs. Dell and Mrs. McLeod.

Welcome Picnic 2021

The Welcome Night Picnic was a great success, with the largest turnout ever recorded for a parent event at the school. We hope you enjoyed the good company and food. Events such as these, really help to build the great community spirit that exists at Ormond Primary School. The event was run strictly within Covid guidelines and as such, there was a limit on the number of tickets we could issue. The tickets initially sold out, but we ran a campaign to encourage parents to return unwanted tickets. In the end, everyone who was listed on our official Trybooking ‘wait list’ for tickets managed to secure entry to the event which was fantastic news. Hopefully, when Covid restrictions ease, we can run events again with an even larger capacity, ensuring everyone can take part.

I would like to take this opportunity to thank members of the P&F Committee who put in a huge effort to make this event possible. Running this event safely and within relevant Covid guidelines involved a massive commitment from a number of volunteers. I would particularly like to thank Kath Spencer, Kathy Litaridis, Rebecca Close, Ilse Cuijpers, Jacqui Warfe, Rachel Marsden, Kim Tran, Deb Dalidakis and Sara Nyborg for their help throughout the process and on the night. I would also like to thank Brodie Thomson, Lorraine Bell and Kerri McLeod from the School who were a great help with all the administrative requirements. Finally, thank-you to Miss Thanos, Miss Cecil, Mr Serpanchy and the Year 6 students who helped set up the picnic space.

Second Hand Uniform Sale

What a great turn out last Friday for our first Second Hand Uniform Sale for nearly 12 months, due to Covid restrictions. A resounding profit of $1,338 was made which will go into the schools fundraising bucket for our children. Thanks to everyone for signing in with the QR code and adhering to current Covid restrictions.

A big thank you to following ladies who helped sort the copious amounts of stock, set up and pack down. We can’t run this sale for everyone with just one of us: Pia Durcudoy, Esther Schwarzman, Amy Ashford, Ilse Cuijpers & Rebecca Close. We will run another sale in next term, so keep an eye out for the Compass notification.

Parents & Friends Committee for 2021

Parents & Friends (P&F) held their AGM on Tuesday 2nd March.

The following people were elected to roles for 2021:

  • Convener - Heather Hosken
  • Vice Convener - Kathy Litaridis
  • Secretary - Jacqui Warfe
  • Treasurer - Kath Spencer
  • Communications – Yvette Stepan
  • Class Rep Coordinator - Sara Nyborg

How have we used P&F funds raised in 2020?

In 2020, our fund raising capacity was limited due to Covid restrictions. However, we still managed to raise $4964, mainly from the Easter Raffle, the Mango Drive, and the Community Cookbook. Last year, the money we raised was used to purchase much needed classroom library books, shelving for classroom books and new Smart TVs. These items have been greatly appreciated by teaching staff and students.
