WELLBEING UPDATE

Another big fortnight in the area of Wellbeing. With the two big ticket items of our Cyber Safety Incursions and STAR Day being a great success, thanks for all the parent support over the last fortnight with these events, in particular our STAR P+F who hosted our sausage sizzle!

STAR Day

A day to celebrate our school values and the national Anti-Bullying Day

On Monday all our students participated in STAR day which included, team building, upstanding and resilience lessons, a session where each student met and learnt with their buddies and our team building PLANKs incursion.

STAR Rainbow Chair for Play

A big thanks to Mila Bautista who brought this idea to school leadership for a friendship chair as a meeting place for kids to organise games and begin playing together.  So awesome to see students looking out for one another, great stuff Mila.

Our STAR chair will be placed in the 1/2 area as a meeting place for games such a tiggy, 40/40, Rainbow letter game, What's the time Mr Wolf etc.

At the start of each recess, these games will be led by our senior STAR leaders to facilitate positive and inclusive play with our junior students. We will be trialling a few games this week with a timetable structure to begin next term. We hope that this initiative will support all students especially, particularly our Grade 1 students who due to Covid missed out on a chunk of their Prep Area social building oppurtunities.

Check out Class Dojo for a quick video of the game '40/40'. Any students keen to join the STAR games in future are most welcomed and are to meet at the STAR chair at the start of each recess.

We will also be looking to paint and art up our seat too! If there are any creative savvy parents who are keen to help support some students doing this please let me know.

Kick Bricks Building Sessions

We have purchased 2 sets of Kick Bricks which are foam, light weight blocks that will be rotated around the Prep and 1/2 classes to further support our junior students with some inclusive social play.

CyberSafety Incursions for Prep to 6

Thanks for the positive feedback that has come through regarding our CyberSafety incursions. Marty from Inform and Empower was engaging and our kids were excellent in attendance from a behaviour, questioning and thinking point of view.

We have a % of students who are on social media in the senior school which continues to be a concern for the school. In Term 2, we aim to hold an open forum around technology at home and create some recommended norms for our community. We hope to have a high % of parent voice in these forums and created norms. More information to follow next term.

Family eSafety Insurance Sponsor

A reminder that these CyberSafety Incursions were sponsored by CoverIT. We are grateful for partnering with CoverIT, a local eSafety Insurance business ran by one of our community families, the Petruccili family. A big thanks to Damian who has sponsored this program. He is passionate about eSafety and Cyber issues in our community and we are grateful for supporting the CyberSafety learning at our school. Please see the below flier of information regarding eSafety insurance that may be suitable for your family.

Cheers all and take care,
