News from Nurse Jess

We finally made it a full school term! It’s been awhile since we’ve been able to say that! It’s been wonderful to witness all students getting back to school and enjoying their time whilst they are here.

Just quickly I’m thrilled to have the opportunity to present at the upcoming Parent Expo on the 28th of April. I’ll be wearing my other “hat” as a sleep consultant and talking to you all things sleep!

Since starting at Yarrabah I have seen the struggles many of our families go through supporting their child to have the quality and restorative sleep they need. Therefore I embarked on completing a course to further my knowledge and skill set to be able to support children with additional needs with their sleep. The lack of restorative sleep hugely affects all areas of your child’s wellbeing – physical, emotional, social and behavioural.

My aim of this workshop is to provide an insight as to why sleep is so important, discuss common issues you are facing with your child and their sleep and provide strategies and techniques you can implement at home to work towards more sleep, not only for your child but for YOU also.

Hoping for all attendees to leave feeling empowered, educated and encouraged to strive for better sleep for the whole family.

There are a lot of fantastic workshops on offer so ensure you book your spot!

Have a lovely Easter break with your families

Jess
