Room 1

Room 1 Welcomes the New Year

The students in Rm 1 have done a great job to start to settle in to their new room and work together as a team. Our new receptions have shown tremendous self confidence and independence at being able to come in to the building on their own at the start of the day and go out to meet parents at the end of the day. Well done everyone. The year 1’s have helped Monica and been a fantastic support for all our new students. They are already showing great leadership skills.

We have been very busy reading, listening to stories, drawing and colouring in. We have shared toys in play time, learnt new people’s names, been creative and helped each other to learn about our new class rules. In maths we are learning about 2D shapes. We hope you enjoy looking at these photos that show just some of what we have done in our first week of school.

Konnichiwa,

Welcome to Japanese for 2021 – The Year of the Cow/Ox!

By now all the children have had a chance to visit the Japanese Room and begin their lessons for the year.

We have been busy talking about New Year in Japan and the story of The Zodiac Race. Can your child tell you how the story goes?

We have also made our very own to celebrate the beginning of ‘Ushi Doshi’ the Year of Cow/Ox. We think they look great!

Science News

In Science this term, students are learning about Earth and Space. The JP students have been looking at pictures of day and night and making observations on what they notice. They then drew a picture to represent day and night on a sticky note to demonstrate their knowledge.

Room 11 and 14 have been learning about coastal erosion. They did a science experiment that demonstrates the effects that coastal erosion has on the landscape.
