From the Principal

Term 1, Week 2, Kevin Kennedy

Dear Families,

The first few days of the school year have passed quickly and the students are settling well into their new classes. After a long break getting children back into a routine can be a challenge and  I’d like the thank parents, carers, and staff for making this transition back into school life a smooth as possible.

COVID19 protocols are still with us, although currently relaxed than last year. Family members are still allowed on the grounds but cannot enter the buildings, excluding the front office. As I mentioned in previous correspondence family members will be able to attend our Acquaintance Night next week and school assemblies this year, with conditions ( please refer to Skoolbag for more detailed information). We are looking forward to having parents, carers and other family members back in the school, albeit in a limited capacity.

The building and grounds development work will continue throughout the term. The lift is operational but a few finishing touches are still required. The resurfacing of the  southern carpark is complete, with the basketball/netball court due to be finished next week. The pool has a new fence, with the resurfacing of the pool, new pumping and filtration system, shed to be completed over the coming months. The schools governing council has plans to erect a shade structure over the pool, the cost of which will be partly covered by the fundraising that has occurred over the last few years. There are several other internal building works planned that will improve our learning  and meeting spaces.

I have been in conversation with our upper primary staff about the possibility of making an trip to Canberra a regular part of our school calendar, potentially starting in 2022. Having been on several Canberra trips, I cannot speak more highly of the experience. Many if not all of the students who attend consider it a highlight of their primary schooling. The trip does come with a significant cost (approximately $1000) that parents need to consider and plan for.  I will be sending an expression of interest  home to parents and carers of students in year five to see if we progress with the idea.

Look forward to seeing you at Acquaintance Night.

If you have any queries or concerns feel free to contact me at the school

Kind Regards,

Kevin Kennedy
