Static Electricity

Year 9 students were off to a shocking start to 2021 with Static Electricity. They conducted experiments with balloons and other different materials to generate static electricity. You can see in the pictures the students are using the Van De Graaff generator.  The change in charge is transferred to whoever touches the dome of the generator. The person's hair is also charged and the strands repel each other making them stand up.

The ultimate bad hair day, all in the name of Science!
