Engagement and Wellbeing

Welcome back Rangeview parents, carers, extended families and of course, students. We hope you have all had a wonderful and restful holiday period and are ready for an exciting term! It was so lovely to welcome the Level 1 – 6 students back on Thursday last week and our new Foundation students on Friday. Despite the torrential rain it was a hugely successful start to the term with students at every level re-connecting with classmates, new teachers and the school community. A big thankyou to our groundsman Paddy O’Neil who had the school grounds and gardens looking so beautiful for our returning families. A big thank you also to our Rangeview staff – teaching and ES – who worked for many days prior to the return to prepare classrooms, book packs, specialist spaces and even sort the giant pile of lost property ready to be returned to our students. By working together the term can start successfully.

We have a busy term in Wellbeing coming up.

  • All classes will begin the term with our Rangeview Start Up program. This wellbeing and engagement program is designed to support the students to get to know each other and their teacher and to settle into their new grades.
  • All of our students will be meeting their new Buddy for 2021 – I know the 5/6 classes are especially excited to meet the Foundation Buddies!
  • All classes will be starting their Rights, Resilience and Respectful Relationships lessons each week. Rangeview is a Lead School in RR so we will also be helping 5 other Primary Schools to become strong RR schools in 2021.
  • Our Level 6 students will be participating in a Life Skills Martial Arts Therapy Program – once a week for this term. This program is designed to build their confidence, self-discipline, leadership skills and resilience.
  • Our wonderful social worker Natalie Powell will be running a Games Group each Wednesday at lunchtime in the Library. Our fabulous wellbeing leading teacher Meg Hubbard will be running a Mindfulness Group also.
  • All classes will be learning more about children with hearing impairments. This is part of building our understanding of ability diversity. We will be learning the National Anthem in AUSLAN (some new words as well) and will have a visit from some students/teachers who attend a school with a hearing impairment unit.
  • The World Map is up again in our school foyer. All our Rangeview students will be placing a dot on the map to represent the birthplace of their parents/carers. This is to celebrate our ethnicity and diversity.
  • We will have a whole school celebration day for Harmony Day on Friday March 26th.

Although we are still having to ask parents/carers to attend our assemblies virtually, we hope to provide many opportunities for you to be involved in the wellbeing programs and events here at Rangeview.
