2021 INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS LUNAR NEW YEAR

For our International students, the beginning of the school year has started relatively smoothly, and we are already in the full swing of school life. The year has commenced with all students happily and comfortably settling into the new school year with enthusiasm and a general sense of excitement. They look relaxed and certainly very keen as they embark on their newest educational adventure. Our Lunar New Year Celebrations were a wonderful event that took place on Wednesday10th February in the Library. This year is the Year of the Ox which brings wealth, prosperity and good fortune. It also brings success in business and in careers. That means it will be a good year for all of us. Linda Nguyen introduced the various speakers and activities. Judith Clelland welcomed and addressed the group. An energetic and cheerful group of year six students (Alanis, Tom, Prayash, Zoe and Ida) sang the traditional ‘Chinese New Year’ song, ‘Gongxi, Gongxi’. Cassandra Leong who completed year 12 last year and has enrolled at Melbourne University presented a talk to our international students about her time at Collingwood College and how to get the best out of your time at school. We are very grateful to Cassandra for visiting us and we wish her all the best in her future ventures. Cosmy Wang of year 11 also spoke to the group. It was a great celebration and the students really enjoyed the yummy food offered.

Take Care,
