Principal's Report

Dear Parents, Families and Community members,

Camp Experience Grade 1-2

On Friday 6 December our Grade 1 and 2 students enjoyed a camp experience at school!

All students returned to school at 5pm very excited for the night ahead. It was great to see so many happy students joining in the many fun activities including playing basketball, line tiggy and walking on stilts! As well as showing care to each other while setting up their sleeping bags and  enjoying pizza for dinner.

The evening finished with a movie and popcorn with the Grade 1 students heading home at 8:30pm. The Grade 2 students bravely ventured outside with their torches to explore the school grounds on an exciting night walk in the dark before settling in for a sleepover at school, which was a great experience for future camps.

Well done to all students for your fantastic behaviour on the night and for displaying the school values so well.

A big thank you to staff for organising such a fun evening for the Grade 1-2's and for volunteering your time, it was a great success.

Whole School Transition Day

Throughout Term 4 our new 2020 Prep students have participated in a series of transition sessions to support them in starting their school journey, but on Tuesday 10 December it was everyone else’s turn.

On the day, our year 6 students visited their new secondary schools and spent the day getting to know more about Secondary School life, their new environment and meeting new teachers and peers.

Back here at ACS all other year levels participated in our whole school transition program, with students moving to new learning spaces, gathering in new Learning Communities and spending some time in the new Home Groups for 2020.

Whilst change of any nature can be difficult, I think it is testament to the preparation and support of our staff, that students were so well prepared and the day ran smoothly and was a great success.

Whilst our nearly 90 new Preps did not participate in this day, we had most of our new staff in attendance and a number of the many new families joining us in 2020 in attendance too. From what seems like a relatively small enrollment of 175 at the beginning of 2018, we will commence 2020 with more than 450 students!

Well done to all involved,  we know our students are well prepared to continue their learning in in the new year!

End of Year Reports

This afternoon on Compass your child’s end of semester report will be available for reading and celebrating.

At Armstrong Creek School we use a system of on-going reporting to ensure you as parents and carers remain up to date with your child’s learning, particularly in the areas of English and Mathematics.

The end of year reports are the final piece of formal reporting in the series of continuous feedback you have received over the course of the year. This has included six learning tasks, a mid-year report and student-led conferences.

You will also find a document explaining how to interpret your child’s written report on your Compass News Feed.
