Positive Climate for Learning

7-10 Learning Community

The Year 7-10 Learning Community has had an exciting start to the year. We have begun electives including Food Technology, Abstract Art, Media, Performance and Textiles.

In Food Technology students will make a variety of different recipes, practice motor skills in food preparation and learn about food safety and occupational health and safety practices.

In Abstract Art students will create a range of art pieces which may include coasters, hot rocks, bubble art and tie dye. This will improve students fine motor coordination, listening skills and teamwork abilities.

In Media students will be making short animations using stop motion and some photography under themes including listening and friendship.

In Performance students are learning a variety of different dances and performance skills while improving coordination and teamwork.

In Textiles students have been making dream catchers using a variety of materials and are enjoying broadening their friendships, developing fine motor skills and showing their creativity.

It has also been great to get to know all of our new students with enrolments increasing in our second year as a high school community.

We have enjoyed welcoming a new teaching member of our community in Eric who has joined the specialist team.
