Principal's Report

Dear Parents, Families and Community members,

2020 Student Leaders

Today we announced the successful candidates to the Student Representative Council and School Captain positions. These roles are a critical element of our whole school climate and community.

In 2020 one of our goals as a school is to further activate student voice in the community. One of the ways in which we hope to achieve our goal is to continue to build up the capacity of our student leaders. This includes formally elected leaders, but also extends to each and every student who has the opportunity to demonstrate leadership and contribute to the school community in a variety of ways.

Those students elected to formal roles, voted by their peers, were:

School Captains

Primary

Solomon Blowers

Mikayla Frost

Jack Harrington

Sylvi Tapia

Secondary

Oliver Jackman

Student Representative Council

1-2 LC - Marley Farrell and Lilly Barritt

3-4 LC - Macy Taylor and Harrison Pearce

5-6 LC - Ash Hase, Brody Warren, Ruby Bridge and Isaac Levy

7-10 LC - Indee Sparkman and Riley Elms

House Celebration Day

Today the whole school celebrated the end of our ‘Get the Learning Flowing’ program.

The students had a wonderful day in their house groups earning points and developing chants and house mascots. The students and staff had a ball at all the activities, including tabloid sports and a newspaper challenge.

A big thank you to all staff involved in organising such a wonderful day for students to celebrate their learning, the day was a huge success.

Community Picnic

On Friday 28 of February, we will be opening up the school gates from 5.30 - 7.30 for an informal ACS Community Picnic.

A flyer has been sent out through Compass and Facebook and can also be found below. This is really an opportunity for families both new and old, to come together and ‘hang out in the playground’ with a picnic rug / chairs, some food and drinks.

There will be various bits of sporting and games equipment for families to get busy with and some of our 5-6 students will be on hand to lead some games for interested children and families.

In a growth area like Armstrong Creek, we know many people have relocated to the area and don’t know a lot of people. We hope this is an opportunity to welcome new members of the community and potentially begin to develop new friendships.

Launch of Sports Uniforms

It was with great pleasure, that at today’s assembly, we were able to officially  launch our sports uniforms which will be worn by students representing our school at various sports including; athletics, basketball, netball and football.

Those who witnessed our students proudly wearing them today, would have to agree they look fantastic.

Items such as these do not come cheaply or easily, so it was wonderful to partner with the Armstrong Creek Veterinary Clinic who have sponsored these magnificent looking outfits! A huge thanks to Emma and the team for their support of our school and making this happen.

Arron announced that we are running a competition in conjunction with the Armstrong Creek Veterinarian Clinic, asking students to bring in a photo of them and their pet. These will be displayed in the Games Hall with all students earning House Points when they bring in a ‘happy snap’ , as well a chance to win the MAJOR prize!

We look forward to seeing the uniforms gracing the sporting fields of greater Geelong very soon.

Special thanks to Nathan and Indigo Wolf for producing our uniforms and being great to work with!

Have a great weekend!
