Gastroenteritis

Several students and staff have been affected this week by a viral strand of Gastroenteritis.

After contacting the Department of Health, they have advised the following guidelines to follow:

Students and staff should remain away from school until they have fully recovered. A copy of the exclusion guidelines can be found here:

If students and staff are unwell they should seek medical advice from their General Practitioner.

Effective hand hygiene is the most important measure in preventing the spread of infection. Alcohol wipes or antibacterial gels are not recommended for use during an outbreak, as they are less effective against viruses. Washing with soap and running water reduces the numbers of viruses on the hands to a safer level.  For further information please refer to the IDEAS website http://ideas.health.vic.gov.au/ and the Better Health Channel: www.betterhealthchannel.vic.gov.au
