Cattle Team News

There was a buzz around members of the Cattle Team at the end of Term 1,  when one of the steers they were preparing for competition was awarded the Champion Trade Carcase of the Sydney Show Led Steer Trade section with a Shorthorn Angus steer bred by Sprys  Shorthorns Wagga.

Named “Shane the Shangus”,  this steer not only took out the Championship but also the Virtual Taste  Test award in what was the replacement competition for the cancelled Sydney Show.  Results were live streamed by Colin Say and Co, Glen Innes on the Wednesday evening (April 8). Calrossy's Cattle Team sends out a very big thank you to Colin Say and Co. who  took on the organisation of this carcase competition, and also to Woolworths and TEYS who continued with their generous support of the event.

Another of the Calrossy steers, an Angus bred by the Brooker family Scone was third in this competition. Silver medallist in the replacement competition was Calrossy Pepsi, a heavyweight black limousin bred by B&H Goodman.  Another Goodman steer was awarded a Bronze medal in the heavyweight section of the competition.

Meantime, our Cattle Stud, Kamilaroi Shorthorns will be selling five bulls at the upcoming National Bull Sale. The Sale is now going online in replacement of the annual Dubbo event, on June 10. Check out the video they made to showcase their bulls. https://youtu.be/eKJrxl85MRg
