This year ANZAC Day was a very different occasion with no march and families commemorating the day at home. It was great to see so many Calrossy families participate in this special event and remember the sacrifices made for our Country.
There is a photo gallery on The Hub of ANZAC Day at Home, if you have more photos we could include in this gallery please email marketing@calrossy.nsw.edu.au
The gallery can be found here.
Here's a great good news story amongst these crazy times. Year 7 Calrossy student Josie Frances took out the National Writing Legends and Storyathon Award in the Year 7 and 8 Category for her 100 word microstory submission. Writing microstories challenges students to tighten their language, experiment with words and focus their message. This is a fantastic result considering there were over 20,000 entries across Australia and New Zealand. Well done Josie! Check out her entry below.
During these Covid-19 times the Calrossy PDHPE staff were aware that student Wholistic Health was going to be affected. Calrossy students study the dimensions of Health and the factors that influence them as foundations of their everyday health status; this we know is dynamic and constantly changing depending on the environment and the individual student’s situation. So the Department came up with this initiative to meet mandatory physical activity requirements and support wellbeing.
With the help of the PDHPE community and friends we have been able to support our students and families. This essentially means we can provide connections for wellbeing, mental health and physical activity. Partnering with Snake Crossfit and Tathra Collective we have worked to develop activities to assist maintaining health while our students are away from the School and at home, using simple basic body movements. It is hoped that Parents and students interact together with this initiative. Links to Physical challenges, Cognitive challenges, Social connection, Spiritual connection and suggestions for interesting topics to read or listen to via audiobook, appropriate for each PDHPE Unit, are also accessible.
Students can access this site via The Hub on the Salmon coloured tile on their home page titled PDHPE & Wellbeing.
