Premiers Reading Challenge
On the 9th November the library hosted our annual Premier’s Reading Challenge Lunch. This year 29 students completed the Premier’s Reading Challenge reading 622 books between them. We celebrated with good food then Ms. Prades presented the students with their certificates from the Premier. Students enjoyed the lucky dip for book prizes, although many engaged in serious swap negotiations afterwards.
Library Stocktake
All library books are due back by November 31st as we will begin our stocktake the week after. If you find any books under beds or amongst all the papers on the kitchen bench please send them to school. I am envisioning a long stocktake this year as we were busy ‘genrefying’ the fiction section last year and did not undertake a stocktake. By the way, the genrefied fiction area is working well with students who are finding it much easier to navigate and select suitable novels.
Summer Reading Challenge
Students, Staff and Parents are invited to sign up for the Summer Reading Challenge, the goal is to read 4 books over the summer break from mid December to the end of January. Students who sign up for the challenge may continue to borrow through December for the holiday period. This is a great time to read all those long series, 800pg. ‘bricks’, long neglected classics, or the favoured light beach romance. Your choice! We will celebrate or reading in February.
Christmas
Don’t forget to include books in your Christmas shopping but more importantly don’t forget to find some quiet time to read together.
