Principal's Message

Dear Parents/Carers,

“Empowering students for learning and life”

Year 12

On Thursday 25th October, we held a special Whole School Assembly celebrating the various events and achievements across the College, over the course of the year. At this assembly, our 2018 School Captains spoke about their experiences this year as Captains and introduced our 2019 School Captains to the Student Body.  It was a very successful and engaging assembly and all of Student Leaders who spoke about their experiences throughout 2018 did us proud.

As outlined in our last newsletter, we had eight of our Year 11 students who nominated for school captaincy, all worthy candidates. Voting for the preferred four was extremely challenging as they all demonstrated the highest calibre of good leadership.  I would like to congratulate our 2019 school captains and look forward to working with them next year.

Our School Captains for 2019 are:

Danielle Blucher

Natasha Kryzwinski

Will Just

Bonn Sithick Soth

The unsuccessful candidates have been offered other leadership positions within our College.

The assembly was followed by a special luncheon for our Year 12 students, who celebrated with their teacher and leaders.  The Captains led the speeches and handed out awards to their teachers.  It was a lovely way to farewell our Year 12 students.

Our Year 12 students have finished their school year on Friday 26th October and celebrated by going to LeMans Laser Skirmish with their Sub School Leadership team and a couple of their Year 12 teachers.  This was followed by lunch at McDonalds – a great time was had by all.

Our Year 12 VCE students are working through their VCAA exams, with some students finished and most completing their last exams over the next week. The exams have gone extremely well and our students demonstrated high expectations of themselves in their conduct and application during the exams. The external examiners have commented on how wonderful and diligent students have been throughout the exams that were administered to date. We feel confident that this will continue until the last exam is completed. We again wish all our students the very best of luck in their studies and look forward to celebrating with them again at the Valedictory dinner held on Friday 23rd November.

Year 11 VCAL

Friday, November 1st, Ms Bendon, Mr Rogers and myself had the great pleasure of listening to our Year 11 VCAL student present their digital portfolios.  The students spoke clearly and passionately about their experience with VCAL throughout the 2018 school year.  They talked a little about themselves, their goals and ambitions; the different experiences they had throughout the year, including incursions and excursions; charity work – they all talked highly of their involvement in Fareshare Kitchen, cooking and preparing meals for the less fortunate.  They shared with us their Personal Development Projects and where to after for 2019.  It was great to hear them talking about continuing their education at Lyndhurst and completing their Senior Certificate in 2019.  They all talked highly of their Year 11 VCAL experience and it was an absolute pleasure to hear from such amazing young people.  We are very proud of your achievements to date.

As we head into the final few months of  the 2018 school year, our Year 10 & 11 students are finalising assessment and preparing for exams.  Our Middle School students are still completing their course work, and will be finalising assessments.  We wish all our students the very best over this very busy time and remind them to seek support when needed from their teachers or the Wellbeing team.
