Southern Metropolitan Regional (SMR) Finals

Can you believe that Interschool Sport for 2022 is coming full circle? Teams who competed and won the Beachside Division in Term 1 Summer sports are finally getting the opportunity to play finals. Although our cricket teams have had it tough with many games being rescheduled due to rain, here are the results so far.

Our Intermediate Cricket Boys from Years 9 and 10 competed in the SMR final travelling to Lloyd Park Langwarrin, where they defeated McKinnon and then Dromana. This qualified the team for the State Quarter Final. Unfortunately, the team did have to travel to Yarragon for this tough match and were defeated by  Catholic College Sale. Thank you Mr Sanders for supporting the team.

The Year 8 Girls Cricket team defeated Frankston at McKinnon Oval. This earned the girls the blue SMR flag and the team is looking strong and capable to take on the qualifying team from the Gippsland Region in the State Quarter Final on 18th November. Good luck team and to Mr Collings.

After defeating Yavneh, Albert Park and Elwood to win the Beachside Division in Term 1 it was a long wait for the Year 7 Boys Cricket to get to the SMR finals. Cheltenham defeated Lyndale in the Quarter Final of the SMR series. McKinnon dominated with the bat, early on in the Semi Final on Friday 11th November. This left our boys with too big of a run chase to make it to the next round. Thank you Mr Mazurek.

After winning the Beachside Division in Term 3 the Year 8 Boys Table Tennis did an awesome job winning two out of their three team matches. Unfortunately in the 3rd game Chelt were defeated by Dromana and missed out on a place in the SMR final. Thank you Mr Craig for taking the team.

Well done to our Intermediate Girls Basketball who travelled to the State Basketball Centre to take their place in the SMR Finals. The team were unchanged from their successful Beachside Division win in Term 3. Facing some very challenging competition the girls won two of their three pool games and then were defeated by Berwick, who won overall. Thank you Mr Smart.
