Year 7 Science

As part of a unit on forces, the Year 7 students developed an experiment to test the effect of parachute size and the time it takes for a parachute to fall. The students designed the experiment and required materials, planned the steps, carried out the experiment in groups and timed the fall. These are some slow-motion videos of the investigation in action.

Year 7 Science - student reflections

This year a new group of year 7 students began their science journey at Cheltenham. We have included a few thoughts below.

I've learned so many new things like classification, habitats, food web/chains, adaptations, how to use a Bunsen burner and forces. My favourite parts of science this year were definitely learning how to use a Bunsen burner and obviously the amazing trip to the Melbourne Zoo.

When I first started Year 7 I knew that I was going to like science, but I didn't know that I was going to LOVE it!

It has been one of the best experiences of Year 7 for me and I'm very excited to keep on doing it for the following years to come! - Allegra K.

Science was never on my list of favourite subjects throughout primary school. Doing science at Cheltenham Secondary College has really changed my perspective. It added the extra challenge and excitement that seemed to be missing. The practical lessons are so much fun and putting on a lab coat is something I look forward to every week. The way it is taught finally makes so much sense and I can’t wait to see what other exciting experiments we will get to do in the future!! - Milana N.

7F Drama

A big congratulations to our Year 7 drama students. Our amazing students wrote hilarious Fractured Fairytales. Their challenge was to make some interesting changes to classic fairy tales. We had gangster grandmas, hillbilly giants and some absolute stunning princesses holding their own!

Year 8 Renaissance artwork

As part of our Year 8 History Unit on the Renaissance, students were asked to recreate a famous artwork and put their own spin on it. These were some of the awesome efforts...
