PREMIER’S READING CHALLENGE REWARD PARTY

This week, we celebrated the thirty Killester students who completed the Premier’s Reading Challenge this year. We are so proud of the avid readers we have within our school, who not only read and completed the books required from the Premier’s list but continued to read over and above expectations. Our accomplished readers were rewarded with a special VIP pizza party and formally presented with a certificate of completion signed by the Premier himself! Mrs Buik then presented our top ten readers in the school with a special “PRC Champion” badge to wear on their uniform. Congratulations to our top ten readers who are: Francheska Bu, Tanreet Pannu, Ala Weezer, Avleenjot Kaur, Angelina White, Lily Sam, Sally Tran, Giselle Zhang, Rhianna Delcastegne and Victoria Tang.

The bonus prize, our grandprize, was drawn at random from our 30 finishers and we are excited to announce that Courtney Maling won the 18 speed, dual suspension mountain bike! Her reaction was priceless – from shock and disbelief to the biggest smile and extreme gratitude. Congratulations Courtney and well done to every student who completed the Challenge, and to all of our other students who participated in this competition. We look forward to entering our school in the Challenge again in 2023.

HALLOWEEN IN THE LIBRARY

We trialled a bit of fun and engagement in the Library this year with an interactive Halloween display area for our students. It was a joy to watch them press the buttons and react to the sounds and actions of our crazy Halloween characters. Students also decorated sugar skulls in our Maker Space activity and participated in a fascinating Halloween facts Kahoot competition. It was pleasing to be told that they loved our unique hand-carved pumpkins too. We’d like to wish a happy Halloween to those who celebrate it.
