Hello P-2 Families! It's hard to believe we are in the last term of the year! It has started off amazingly with lots of learning and student growth.

1/2 Science Incursion

During Week 2, 1/2 students were visited by ‘Mad About Science’. A presenter was able to share information about Material Science, with a focus on Raw/Natural and Processed materials. The students were able to sort, classify and test the physical properties of natural and processed materials. They discovered how materials can change physically as well as chemically. They mixed a material concoction for a purpose, explored the effect of heat on materials, material waste and remade a material into a new product. The session was very informative and the students enjoyed themselves.

This term is another busy term of learning. These are some of the things your child will be learning this term.

Prep

Earth and Space

• The weather and time of day affect events and clothing choices.
• Observable changes occur in the sky and landscape; daily and seasonal changes affect everyday life 

Year 1/2 

Chemical Science

• Objects can be sorted into groups based on their properties, and some objects can be mixed and changed 
• Objects are made of materials that have observable properties 
• Everyday materials can be physically changed or combined with other materials in a variety of ways for particular purposes

Let's Talk Weather

Tallis Prep students were having a terrific time getting for ready for severe weather during their studies. They loved the colourful umbrellas and know that they do 2 things

Protect from the rain and protect from the sun!

This next segment is one that everyone (especially the parents) will love. We asked the Preps about their work with the weather !  Just a little warning some have tiny voices so turn up your volume - but ... the next one may have a loud voice so keep your finger on the dial!
