Reduce Food Waste Poster Competition

Maroondah City Council

Message from Maroondah Council

We’re asking Maroondah students of all ages to help us educate the Maroondah community about the importance of reducing food waste at home.

You can scan the QR code on the competition poster on this page or use this link to visit our website for more information and see examples of some food waste avoidance tips.

Entries are open to all Maroondah students (from K-12) from Monday 3 October until 5pm Monday 31 October 2022. By entering, you will be in the running to win fantastic prizes.

First prize - The School or Early Learning Centre/Kindergarten of the winning student will win a Biofilta wicking bed and workshop for the winning student's class. The winning student’s class will learn about wicking beds and their benefits, fill the bed with soil and plant out the wicking bed with seedlings suited to the season.

Runner up prize - The School or Early Learning Centre/Kindergarten of the winning student will win a new worm farm and a composting workshop for the winning student's class. The winning students' class will learn about the benefits of compost, how to set up a worm farm, how to harvest castings and learn more about the worms living in their new worm farm.
