Principal's Post

Year 12 Finish

My congratulations to all Year 12 students who conducted themselves so beautifully and respectfully in their last week of formal classes. The final assembly on Friday 14th October was a lovely occasion for Year 12 students to express their gratitude to staff, parents, and carers. For many of the Year 12 students this is something of a bitter-sweet experience, some real tension between wanting to move on and wanting to hold on. It is a time, certainly, to look forward in expectation of what might be in the future which, for them, is full of possibility and promise, the exciting challenge of independence, freedom, and self-sufficiency. On behalf of the whole College community, I would like to wish you all the very best for the future.

Strategy Release – MACS 2030: Forming Lives to Enrich the World Main Points

Melbourne Archdiocese Catholic Schools (MACS) has released its inaugural strategic plan, MACS 2030: Forming Lives to Enrich the World.

At the heart of the strategy is MACS’ purpose: ‘Forming lives of faith, hope and love in the light of Jesus Christ’ and vision: ‘Every student is inspired and enabled to flourish and enrich the world’.

The strategy has four pillars through which its programs and initiatives are organised, including:

  • a faith pillar, recognising Catholicism is foundational to the distinctive educational experience MACS and its schools offer
  • an academic pillar, through which MACS aims to deliver the very best educational outcome for every student, focused on formation of the whole person
  • a teachers and principals pillar, which provides focus for MACS to empower great staff to lead great schools
  • a community and organisational pillar, through which the MACS office will become a ‘system architect’ and provider of outstanding support for schools, leveraging the strength of the entire system

The strategy will help harness and build on the collective passion of MACS staff to provide the best Catholic education possible, so we can have the greatest and most distinctive impact in our classrooms, staffrooms and communities.

The MACS 2030 website https://macs2030.com/ has been launched and will be a key, outward-facing touchpoint throughout the lifecycle of the strategic plan. Resources and strategy-related updates can be found on the site, including a digital copy of the strategy available for download.

All the best,

Dr Paul Shannon
