Sports Academy Camp 2022
The first ever Sports Academy Camp has finally taken place at Anglesea Beach from October 10th to 12th. It is fantastic to that the sports academy kids got their chance at enjoying a camp. The last 2 years were interrupted by COVID, and the kids had been looking forward to a little bit of free time and fun.
The Sports Academy camp was filled with several activities that kept our campers on their toes. Right from the time we arrived, there was a quick briefing and tour of the campground facilities and then we were off on a journey to the beach for surfing lessons beach games and swimming.
Our kids had a fun time at the beach and the weather was perfect!
We all took part in a late-night servo walk to get lots of junk food and goodies for our movie night. Spiderman was the unanimous choice for entertainment, but the kids were simply happy to hang out and enjoy each other’s company.
Day 2 we enjoyed canoeing, initiatives at the estuary as well as the Lucy Ho Gauntlet. This was an obstacle course that Lucy came up with for the teams to compete in, and it was a tremendous success with Team 1 taking out the best time for the course.
Many of the initiative games challenged our students to solve problems as a group and I must say it was some of the funniest times on the trip watching them figure things out. We had a huge day out at the Estuary and topped it off with more time at the beach for a swim.
Day 3 we all participated in a Beach Carnival with more games of competition and fun. The bucket challenge was the funniest thing I have seen in a long time! Most of the kids forgot about the challenge of filling their buckets with water and went straight into a full-on water fight!
In all it was a wonderful opportunity for the kids to get to know each other and have fun. I do believe everyone enjoyed themselves and we all are looking forward to the next Sports Academy camp in 2023.
