3D PRINTING IN YEAR 8 VCD

This year our Year 8 students undertook a Typography assessment to explore the drawing method of Isometric Drawing, which is typically used by Industrial and Product Designers. The Task required students to generate a range of design solutions, exploring the combination of type and imagery, to create a 3D graphic of their names. 

 

Once students have completed their final presentation pieces, the focus of this assessment shifts to 3D Printing and Prototyping. Using their hand generated graphics as inspiration, students work in Tinkercad to construct a 3D prototype of their name, which are then printed using the school's 3D printers. As a free web-based 3D modeling application, Tinkercad allows our students to think like real engineers, architects and product designers.
